10 Good Uses For Salt

Just a pinch of it and it’s worth it. We’re talking salt here. Used throughout human history, ubiquitous and cheap. Mined from salt rocks and extracted from sea water, salt is… well, the “salt of the earth.” You can’t live without it healthily. At the same time, you can’t live healthily with too much of it. Get the balance right – in your food and in your live – and salt is worth it’s own weight.

Thaipusam on Palani,Kavadi and Idumban

                                                                       Idumban

Today I would like to write something about Thaipusam.Yes, Thaipusam the grand celebration to Lord Muruga that will be celebrated by millions of Hindus through out the world on 7 Feb 2012.I will also involved in this holly celebration. Not carrying the Kavadi but I render in different service by singing his praise and accompany the Kavadis.I do belong to a well know Muruga devotee family from Johor Bahru by the name of our patron the late "Madavan Pusari", my Grandfather. We are in this service for decade and now its already touch the third generation and I am happy to see the tradition still going on and wish its will still go through many more generation to come.Hopping like me my daughter and son will carry on to participate in this service to the holly feet of Lord Muruga once a year in conjunction of Thaipusam festival.

The main thing in Thaipusam is Kavadi. You can see during the celebration the devotee will carry this kavadi with beautiful decorations. Its take a lot of patience to do and fix one especially the big Kavadi.

An Anthill Sage The Great Valmiki Of Ramayana

Maharshi Valmiki, the author of the great Indian epic Ramayana, was a Hindu sage who lived around the beginning of the first millennium B.C. He is referred to as the 'adikavi', the original creator of the Hindu 'sloka' - a verse form in which most of the great epics such as Ramayana, Mahabharata, Puranas, and other works are composed.

How Valmiki Got His Name

He was a Brahman by birth belonging to the lineage of Bhrigu. Fate consigned him to a family of robbers which brought him up. Accidental contact with the Saptarsis - the Seven Sages and with the sage Narada changed his life. By the repetition of Ramanama or the name of Ram, he attained the supreme state of a 'maharshi' or great sage. Since a 'valmika' or an anthill had grown over his body during his long period of austerities and poised state of penance, he came to be known as Valmiki.
