Nebuchadnezzar

Nebuchadnezzar the King of Jews
He bought his wife a pair of shoes
when the shoes begin to wear
Nebuchadnezzar begin to swear
When the swear begin to stop
Nebuchadnezzar bought a shop
When the shop begin to sell
Nebuchadnezzar bought a bell
When the bell begin to ring
Nebuchadnezzar begin to sing

The above is the nursery rhyme been thought to me during my primary years back in 1978 or 1978 I guess and I do wander who really this Nebuchadnezzar was at that time.Yes because of his funny long name and difficult to pronounce.Till today I still remember this rhyme and I use to sing this rhyme to my kids and they will asked me the same question which I had asked before....Who is Nebuchadnezzar? Well but now I do understand who really Nebuchadnezzar was.Don't you ?

The Thousand Lights Of Karthikai

Karthikai Month is consider a special months for Hindus mid-November to mid-December according to Tamil calender.A month of Joy after the Shasti fasting and a month that mark the wearing of rosary (mala) for Lord Ayyapa for the Sabari Mala pilgrimage. Karthikai festival is observed in every home and every temple. This occurs on the day when the moon is in conjunction with the constellation Karthigai (Pleiades) and purnima. This constellation appears as a group of six stars in the firmament in the shape of a pendant from the ear.

Many legends and lyrical poetry have grown round this star. The six stars are considered in Indian mythology as the six celestial nymphs who reared the six babies in the saravana tank which later were joined together to form the six faced Muruga.

The Origins Of Everyday Thing - Toilets

Today in rich countries we take toilets for granted yet in poor countries millions of people do not have hygienic toilets. Our word toilet is derived from the French word toilette, which means little cloth. In the 17th century it was a cloth cover for a dressing table, called a toilet table. If a woman was at her toilet it meant she was dressing and preparing her appearance. By the 19th century toilet room or toilet was a euphemism for a certain room. Our word lavatory comes from the Latin lavare meaning to wash.In the 17th century a lavatory was a place for washing.Later it became a euphemism for a certain room.
