My short getaway

Its been a while I did not post in The Season In The Sun blog of mine.Well, busy with Deepavali and now I am back. This time I want to write about my recent family short short trip to a famous resort in Melaka call A Famosa.Separated with three areas which is Safari, Water world and evening carnival at a place they call Cowboy town. Well it look like a Cowboy town in did with an additional special spooky touch,because....we are there during the Halloween celebration.Right time in a right place I guess. There are a lot of ghost every where for sure.Stretch along the street with spooky decoration with ghost trees, pumpkins and Halloweens paraphernalias. Really a family fun and we enjoyed it very much, especially on a Red Indian shows,Animal Musical carnival and a parade with an amassing fire work. Really nice and we do had a lots of fun especially my two kid. We stayed at Condotel with a nice view and the place it not bad and comfortable for a family of four.

Bodhidharma and the "7 am arivu"

Bodhidharma in Japanese painting by Yoshitoshi, 1887.

The resent Tamil film "7 am arivu" (meaning 7th sense) catching imagination of even common man about Bodhidharma, curious readers are all looking for more on his personality and findings.Really amused after all this years the brief story of a Tamilian called Bodhidharma had hit the silver screen cinema in Tamil Nadu.Although this is only a brief sketch of his life but it's really mean something for this generation to ponder on the great yogi who been worshiped in a place like Greater China,Japan and others part of the world. The base of famous Shaolin Temple and kung Fu fighting which we use to watch in Hong Kong Chinese movies. For this I had decided to post some of his life stories which can shade some light to us on this remarkable person or yogi which been lost in Tamil mind.

The World's Most Exotic Pets

Monkeys, Lions and Chimpanzees are animals we often see in the wild or on the Discovery Channel. The following are some exotic albeit expensive pets that can be legally bought. These animals, however do come with a heavy price tag and that is not including the upkeep.

Vedic Mathematics.

Vedic Mathematics is the name given to the ancient system of Mathematics which was rediscovered from the Vedas between 1911 and 1918 by Sri Bharati Krsna Tirthaji (1884-1960). According to his research all of mathematics is based on sixteen Sutras or word-formulae. For example, 'Vertically and Crosswise` is one of these Sutras. These formulae describe the way the mind naturally works and are therefore a great help in directing the student to the appropriate method of solution.

Scrabble Works

The pressure's on, and as you glance back and forth between your rack and the board, you can hardly believe your eyes at the play you can make. You lay down your seven tiles and, to the amazement of your friends, rack up a triple word score using the letter Z, getting a Bingo in the process. Tonight you've rightly earned your win at Scrabble.
Every night people all over the world set up their racks for a game of Scrabble. Scrabble is a crossword game where players use lettered tiles to build words by placing them on a grid. It's a game of both skill and chance -- you have to have a good knowledge of words, but you're also stuck with whatever tiles you pick and what's already been played on the board.

Ayam Penyet

Ayam Penyet is one of those food that seems to be getting popular nowadays. Considering the fact that few years back, no one in Malaysia would have heard of it, it is quite a feat when we think about how it is flooding our market at the moment. I think it’s quite comparable to the Bubble Tea or Taiwanese Xiang Ji Pai craze (You have one in Jusco Tebrau - They call it Taiwanese Streets shop). But yet while the interest of those 2 foods wear off after a while, this Indonesian dish I reckon will still be around for quite some time because it is a main dish.

Organize your file system

This topic I believe will be an interest when we it concern on filing system in our working place. Most multi national company have an advance filing retrieval system for their documentations. Some still use the traditional filing where for some they prefer to go digital. As you know in manufacturing environment with ISO and TS requirement and government requirement as well, some documents had to be stored up to 7 years. This sure will be a lot of papers and I do wonder if this are equivalent to how many trees?

Happy Deepavali ! The Malaysian Style

I am prepared for this year 2011 Deepavali celebration.Had buy a plenty of cloths for my two kids which some of them I buy in Chennai during my "Sabari Yatra".Well I spend 2 days in Chennai Tamil Nadu for shopping of cause. This year Deepavali I hope will be as great as previous year and when I think about it the  first thing came into my mind is the morning breakfast of "Thosei" and "Iddly" the traditional cuisine at my mom place. This is the moment I always waiting for.Of cause from breakfast, lunch with bryani and up to tea time I will be spending with my parents and siblings together with all my nephews on this joyful festival of lights.

Really looking forward for this moment every year.My kids already asking me what will be the amount they are getting for so call Deepavali "Ang Pow" and how much? This is one of the highlight for kids which will happened only in Malaysia.Chinese New Year,Hari Raya,Deepavali and Christmas..you name it."Ang Pow" which came from Chinese tradition will be there for all the kids. They will get several hundreds at end of the day from their grandparents, uncle, unties and others close relative and I always encourage them to bank into their account as usual which is a practice that all parents should encourage for.I don't do that when I were kids but rule of the thumb always teach the good thing which you lack off.

Watching body language in addition to what is spoken might just save you from being a victim of fraud, or it could help you figure out when somebody’s being genuine. The police do this during an interrogation.

Where is the best place to sit when we go to the movies?

This is the question that can divide friends: You like to sit down front, but your companion wants to sit in the back. You both have good arguments for your side. At least these days, the choice is more enjoyable to make because of improvements in theaters.

Is it better to turn my computer off or leave it on all the time?

This is one of those questions where there is no single right answer. In other words, it depends on how you use your computer.

There are at least three situations that force you to leave your computer on 24 hours a day:
  • You are on a network, and the network administrators back up files and/or upgrade software over the network at night. If that is the case, and you want your machine backed up or upgraded, then you need to leave it on all the time.
  • You are using your machine as some sort of server. For example, There are a machine that creates the images for the How Webcams Work article. It needs to be on 24 hours a day. If your machine acts as a file server, print server, Web server, etc., on a LAN (local area network) or the Internet, then you need to leave it on all the time.
  • If you are running something like SETI@home and you want to produce as many result sets as possible, you need to leave your machine on all the time.

Massive Mistakes: Top 10 Most Tragic Accidents in History

Top 10 Professional Wrestlers of All Time

Aggression is stimulation. You can either take it out on your ugliest enemies or your home furniture. Imagine the feeling of smacking your dastardly boss with a powerful clothesline or giving a modest piledriver to your pesky mother-in-law. It’s not advisable to do in real life since you’ll have to deal with the authorities, but you can always depend on professional wrestling to provide you your daily quota of aggression. Considered the male answer to soap opera, wrestling depicts mean muscular men who prefer to resolve their issues with their bad attitudes and nasty wrestling moves. You can probably relate to some of them, since they bear very distinct personalities. Chances are you may even be emulating some of them at this very moment.

The Psychology of Smoking

Why did you start smoking?

Every pack of cigarettes has a warning from the Surgeon General stating that smoking can be harmful to your health. You are not stupid. You understand this. You feel the harmful effects every time that you cough or have a sore throat, but this has not stopped you from smoking. Why? Because the reasons for smoking are mostly psychological. People are seduced to try tobacco by the glamorization of smoking in the movies and in advertisements. Addiction to nicotine makes it hard to quit smoking once you have started, but this addiction can be overcome in two weeks once the psychological reasons for smoking are eliminated.

Watch out for tyre safety

Did we ever stop to think that your vehicle's tyres may have been a major cause of accidents?

alt Most Malaysian motorists do not seem to be aware about the dangers of driving with faulty tyres or tyres that are not properly maintained. One of the important factors of tyre maintenance is proper inflation.

In this regard, air kiosks at petrol stations are not calibrated, which means that pumping up at an improperly functioning or maintained air pump can mean poor inflation, whether under-inflation or over-inflation.

In response to Customer Association (CA) queries related to tyre pressure, the Ministry of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism said air kiosks at petrol stations are not calibrated because the air is provided free and calibration is “mandatory only for equipment used in trade”.

Since we have a very high rate of traffic accidents, It is believes that a high percentage of the accidents may have been caused by wrong inflation pressure.

Krishna and Arjuna Chariot ,The Significance

You may forget the historical battle of Mahabharata, but don’t forget the message contained in it. In fact, the battle is still going on every day within us; this is the fight between our demonic and divine qualities. There has always been a struggle between the two. In this conflict between opposing forces, Krishna (Self, Atma, Higher Intellect) is ever on the side of Dharma (Righteousness) - the reality which sustains, not the delusion which undermines. If you seek to have the Lord on your side as your guide, equip yourself with the divine nature, the qualities of Dharma. For the Lord is where Dharma is.  This chariot is to be driven right to the Destination which is Perfection, Self Realization.  Horses may dash down the chariot into a ditch if they are restive, tired, unwilling, and cannot see the road properly.

Super Soldiers - Are US Military on it ?

The face of the U.S. military is radically changing.  Technology is evolving faster today than ever before, and the U.S. military is determined to be at the cutting edge of applying futuristic technology.  A lot of things that once were only in the world of science fiction are quickly making their way into the U.S. military.  In fact, there are some projects in development that are so bizarre that it is kind of hard to believe that they are real.  After all, creating soldiers with superhuman strength and endurance using pharmaceutical drugs, outfitting soldiers with exotic prosthetics and mechanical exoskeletons, implanting microchips directly into the brains of soldiers to give them an advantage in battle and editing the DNA of soldiers to make them the ultimate killing machines all seem more like something out of a really bad summer movie than real goals that the U.S. military should be pursuing. But they are.

Queen Of Crime - Agatha Christie

Agatha Christie (1890-1976) was born Agatha May Clarissa Miller in Devon, England in 1890, the youngest of three children in a conservative, well-to-do family.
Taught at home by a governess and tutors, as a child Agatha Christie never attended school. She became adept at creating games to keep herself occupied at a very young age. A shy child, unable to adequately express her feelings, she first turned to music as a means of expression and, later in life, to writing.

Sargasso Sea

When Columbus sailed the Sargaso Sea
His sailors did shudder and cry:
"Our ship will sink in this horrible sea.
We'll never get home-we'll die !"

Some people say it's a dark, dangerous trap for sailing ship. But it isn't.Some say it's a giant floating island. But it's not.Others call it an ocean jungle.Wrong.It's the Sargaso Sea - a place in the North Atlantic Ocean where the water is so clam that seaweed grows there. The top of the still water is so crowded with tangled seaweed that captains once feared their ships would get caught in it and be pulled down.

The Assassination of Anwar el-Sadat 30 Years On

Thirty years ago today, on October 6, 1981, while observing the Armed Forces Day military parade commemorating the Yom Kippur War, Anwar el-Sadat, Egypt’s leader from 1970, was gunned down by Muslim extremists—just three years after he had concluded the historic Camp David Accords peace with Israel.

The Man Who Belived That Children Should Have Fun

Even though Charles Dickens lived more than 100 years ago,he was your friend. He wrote stories about boys and girls and grown ups who lived in England.Partly because of those stories, children are treated better now than they were when Dickens lived.

If she had been a real person you'd have liked Little Dorrit, who had to live in a prison house because her parents were too poor to pay the money they owed. When Dickens was young, his father and mother lived in such a place.
Charles Dickens was not much older than you when he had to quit school and take a job away from home.He worked from morning until night, with very little food to eat and only an attic in which to sleep. He tells about this in his book David Copperfield. In another story Dickens tells us how children were treated in some of the schools of that time.At his own school sometimes he was beaten with the teacher's cane for laughing too loudly or for forgetting his lesson.

Yummy Sardines !

Sardines, or pilchards, are several types of small, oily fish related to herrings, family Clupeidae. Sardines are named after the Mediterranean island of Sardinia, around which they were once abundant. The terms sardine and pilchard are not precise, and what is meant depends on the region. The United Kingdom's Sea Fish Industry Authority, for example, classifies sardines as young pilchards. One criterion suggests fish shorter in length than 6 inches (15 cm) are sardines, and larger ones pilchards. The FAO/WHO Codex standard for canned sardines cites 21 species that may be classed as sardines;FishBase, a comprehensive database of information about fish, calls at least six species "pilchard", over a dozen just "sardine", and many more with the two basic names qualified by various adjectives.

The Earth Fact

You can't measure the speed of an object by itself, it has to be measured relative to something else (this was one of Einstein's realizations).

If we ask the question, "How fast the Earth is moving?" we have to specify that we want the speed with respect to another object. Motion cannot be measured without a reference point. We can ask how fast the earth is moving with respect to its own axis, the Sun, the Milky Way Galaxy, or our Local Group of galaxies.

   •How fast is the Earth spinning?0.5 km/sec
•How fast is the Earth revolving around the Sun?30 km/sec
•How fast is the Solar System moving around the Milky Way Galaxy?250 km/sec
•How fast is our Milky Way Galaxy moving in the Local Group of galaxies?300 km/sec

The Earth spins around its axis as it orbits the Sun. Our entire Solar System slowly orbits around the Milky Way Galaxy. The Milky Way Galaxy belongs to the Local Group of galaxies, where it is also moving.

The Leaders

From the day he was old enough to understand,Prince Charles has known he will be a king of England if he lives longer than his mother,Queen Elizabeth.
The people didn't elect him. They didn't choose him because they thought he was smarter or because he bullied them. They really didn't choose him at all.

In countries where a king or a queen rules, the oldest son-or daughter if there are no son-knows he will someday sit on the throne.Even though Prince Charles become king,he won't have as much power as king used to have. The real leader in England is called the Prime Minister.
Most countries don't have king and queen anymore. And not all countries elect their leaders. The leaders of some countries are called dictators.A dictators is very often a bully-a man who wants to be a leader so much that he'll do almost anything-no matter how cruel to get the job.

Fast Fast Fast with Speed

Take the cow. It can be hard to understand the deification of the cow in Indian villages. But pause. In westernized Delhi or Bombay, amid the fizzing pandemonium of the fast lane, watch the awesome cow in awesome slowness chew. Then you know.
Speed is something of a holy cow to modern westernized cultures. On the international foreign exchange markets, up to £200 million can be turned over in little more than a minute. News media can communicate events all but instantaneously. Computers can perform 307 gigaflops per second. Transport policies sacrifice any number of Sites of Special Interest to it, and Brands Hatch is a temple to it.

The attraction of speed is only partly the exhilaration of acceleration; much to do with competition, with overtaking. The thrill is not in going fast, but in going faster then the rest. Mark Marchant, professional racing driver at Brands Hatch, says: "Overtaking, you begin to feel invincible."

Indian musical instruments - A review

I am a little bit sentimental when Indian clasical music is concern.I do not know how to play any Indian music instrument accept "Ganjira" but of cause not that good.Just to play while I sing "Bhajans" or devotional songs. The love of music expecially Indian cranatic had made me enroll my elder daughter in Veena classes and my younger son in Mirdangam classes. So I hope they will have some fun learning them and hopefully the will keep the knowledge and exposure intact to their next keen or future generation. There are really a few people now day which will have a same interest like me.Younger generation may shy away unless their parents expose them in that environment or else it will ultimately fade out in years to come.

I would like to share some of the Indian musical instruments in this blog which I believe can provide some basic understanding on some of them. Now days people tend to use them as decorative items in their home rather than use them in action.

What Phrenology means?

5000 years ago in the times of Vedic era, people were focused on just one issue, how to develop the human consciousness. Systems like Ayurveda were developed to clean the body with herbs and bring it to the optimum level of existence. Vedic Astrology: to know the effect of planets on the Earth and its habitats. Phrenology: (samudrik shahstra) to understand the state of the body, mind & soul from the physical features of the individuals.

Phrenology is the science of body features. Every part of the body is connected with a particular area of the brain. The thought waves we get from the universal mind and the thoughts which manifest in our conscious mind along with our actions, influence the shape, size, color and appearance of our physical features. Any major variation in our thinking patterns or any action which overwhelms our Psyche trigger a change in the characteristic of a particular body feature.
Just by looking at someone's face, hands & feet, abundance of secrets about the past, present & the future are revealed, Secrets about relationships, love life, sexual power, root cause of chronic illnesses, emotional blocks, Spiritual Path: whether it is Meditation or Devotion (spiritual masters have always emphasized on choosing the right path).
We are all rose-buds waiting to bloom. Our face is like a physical bud, as and when we come a step closer to the bloom time, clear signs show up on our face, hands and feet. Just like a bud blooms into a flower the same way the flowering happens on the face. That flowering can only be seen by a Spiritual master or someone who knows Phrenology. The Spiritual state one is at can be clearly judged with the help of Phrenology.

Disposing of household nasties - safely

In normal circumstances I will not post anything into my Blog on Sunday and normally use this day by spending time with family.Sometime I do some housework like clean up the outer portion of my house because inside will be my wife territory. The old plastic bottles, cans and paper will end up sold to recycling vendor.I do concern on the right method of disposing chemical or toxic contaminated bottles or containers which is an environmental risk if this does not been dispose properly.End of the day I believe its will still come back to us or our community. We need to take a precaution of disposing them in correct manner as per below article which can be guide to us.
