Remembering Pandit Ravi Shankar Ji

Ravi Shankar or also known as Robindro Shaunkor Chowdhury (7 April 1920 – 11 December 2012),He has been described as the best known contemporary Indian musician on Sitar.

Shankar was born in Varanasi and spent his youth touring Europe and India with the dance group of his brother Uday Shankar. He gave up dancing in 1938 to study sitar playing under court musician Allauddin Khan. After finishing his studies in 1944, Shankar worked as a composer, creating the music for the Apu Trilogy by Satyajit Ray, and was music director of All India Radio, New Delhi, from 1949 to 1956.

The above is the nursery rhyme been thought to me during my primary years back in 1978 or 1978 I guess and I do wander who really this Nebuchadnezzar was at that time.Yes because of his funny long name and difficult to pronounce.Till today I still remember this rhyme and I use to sing this rhyme to my kids and they will asked me the same question which I had asked before....Who is Nebuchadnezzar? Many legends and lyrical poetry have grown round this star. The six stars are considered in Indian mythology as the six celestial nymphs who reared the six babies in the saravana tank which later were joined together to form the six faced Muruga.

Death in did cruel and we all had to face it one day.Ramesh is my brother in law.Brother to my wife where he had pass away last Saturday 17-11-2012 leaving behind 3 young son and 1 daughter where all of them still a small kid.A shock wife whom can't take the fact that her husband finally went to see his creator.It's really sad to see he is gone, no more with us but his memory will remain forever.I had dedicated this post to his memory and may his soul rest in peace and attain the lotus feet of all pervading God.Aum.
