The Origins Of Everyday Thing - Handkerchief

One of my necessary tools on my pants or jeans pocket.I will not go out from home without it especially when I am off to work.Feel uneasy without it.I had been using the since my primary school day.Way back then till today which become a habit and norm to me.

A handkerchief is a small piece of fabric, usually square shaped.this
accessory's origin dates to ancient Roman times, but the handkerchief
has served different purposes throughout history.

During the second century A.D., performers used handkerchiefs as props
for plays in ancient Roman theatres. Government officials and audience
members also waved handkerchiefs during Roman gladiatorial games
and spectator events. The handkerchiefs used in ancient Rome were white.

The handkerchief evolved to become a fashion accessory in the 16th century.
Wealthy women carried the fabric pieces in their hands, using them to flirt
or to cover their faces to avoid a smell or infection. The handkerchiefs
featured elaborate detailing, like lace edges and embroidery.

In modern times, handkerchiefs add a flash of colour to men and women's
suits when folded and placed in the pocket of a suit jacket. Handkerchiefs
are also a personal accessory for wiping the nose. In addition, some brides
carry heirloom handkerchiefs on their wedding day.

In a way handkerchief had plan a major role in man lives with less
evolution been taken place.
